Inquiring Minds [Geoff/Bina/Others]
« on: November 01, 2017, 08:20:57 PM »
*if there's one thing Geoff doesn't like, it's not knowing something he feels he should have known....in fact it's safe to say that he downright hates it - especially when the reason for his not knowing something is more or less his fault.....at present, there are two (or three, depending on how you count them) mysteries on his hands....he's going to start with the one that is hopefully easiest to wrap his mind around....and that means Bina....this wouldn't be the first time he knocks at her door unannounced like, but when she answers, he isn't even there....he's not far, though: he just turned and started walking toward the forest, not hurrying, and not taking his time, setting a pace that should be easy for any lycan to match even if Bina needed to make herself decent for going outdoors....there's something he means to get to the bottom of, and it's something that's best done with actions, not words...he walks, knowing that Bina would correctly interpret the implicit invitation therein (and if not, be driven by her natural curiosity about what he wants now)*

Bina was hanging out in her house for once. She had been to see Inali earlier in the day at his work and she had already been for a run out in the forest as well. She was currently sitting on her couch looking over something on her computer. She heard the knock on her door and did a quick beast check to see it was Geoff at her door. She pondered that a moment before she grabbed her sneakers and got to her feet. Why did she grab her sneakers? Well it was Geoff. He didnt just visit for no reason so either he was taking her somewhere or he wanted something and that usually meant that she needed shoes. She opened the door and would tilt her head a little bit as he wasnt standing there. She gave a little laugh and sigh, not necessarily in that order, before she tugged on her shoes and would head out after  him. She rounded the corner of her house and saw him walking down the street towards the entrance to the forest. She would turn and run after him and stop only as she took up stride next to him. "Hello to you too. So where are we going?" It wasnt hard to decipher that we were going *somewhere*. The big question was where.

*from the brief metaphysical touch, you'd get the sense that Geoff's not in a "bad" mood per se, but he's also not in good spirits either....it's probably a more complex emotion than a wolf is really capable of comprehending, but to a human it might be like the sort of grim determination one might feel before a big test or a trip to the dentist: he's in a mood to get something done, even if he doesn't expect it to be pleasant....at your question, he gives a low sound that's halfway between a snort and a chuckle* If you have to ask that maybe you're not as strong a wolf as I thought you were. *coming from a lot of people those words might come across as being snarky, even hurtful; Geoff speaks them as a flat statement of fact without judgement, leaving any perception of insult up to you to read into it...he leads you through the garage and into the tunnel that opens up on the pack's forest...only when we first set foot on the earthy, spongy soil does he stop and turn to you* I want to find your wolf friend again.

She heard your snort/chuckle at her question and when you answered her she would smile and give a small laugh. "Okay so we are going to the forest. I try not to assume with you, however." And she didnt. The minute that she thinks that she has stuff figured out is the day that you pull the rug out from underneath her feet. She didnt take your words to be an insult. They might even be considered a bit of a compliment since it clearly implies that you thought she had some strength to her. She was nearly bouncing at your side as we made our way towards the forest. She was always in a good mood when she was out there and knowing we were heading there now was enough to put a smile on her face. When we made our way through the garage, and then the tunnel, she would be humming to herself softly. It was some native american sounding tune. Probably something she heard from Inali. When we finally reach the forest you would stop and turn to her. She stopped her humming to hear what you had to say although your words would cause her to tilt her head a bit. She wasnt necessarily wary, she trusted you and your motives, but she wasnt sure what her wolf friend would think. Still she would shrug after a moment and smile. "Sure. Lets go find him. I have a basic idea of where the pack hangs out." And with that she would turn and start to walk into the forest. She figured that you wanted her to lead so thats precisely what she did.

*if Geoff wanted to know what your wolf friend thought, he would ask it - or rather, have you ask it....which isn't to say he's cavalier or uncaring about the wolf....even if he doesn't possess yours or Jean Luc's kinship with natural wolves, that doesn't mean he's dismissive of them....at your response, he bobs his head slightly and moves as you do...he had no predispositions about whether he wanted you to lead or if you wanted to guide him; the fact that you took it upon your own initiative to lead tells him something....you don't see it because he's behind you, but there's a slight approving nod* Fair enough. *he's more than content to follow you deeper into the forest, though he is barely more than half a pace behind you, following slightly to your right....if he were more consistent about it, you might almost say he was walking beside you, but he manages to sidle back just enough to make it clear that you have point....he has nothing to say for a few minutes before suddenly speaking again* How many of them are there?

She would smile as you said 'Fair enough.' before she would head out. She wasnt running because there was no need and she wanted them to know that we were coming and be able to be prepared for us arriving. If we were running we would just burst in on them and that would make them upset or nervous. She wasnt sure what you wanted but she really hoped that wasnt your intention. She didnt think anything of where you chose to walk because that was your choice. She wouldnt care where you wanted to walk. But she had no problem leading you through the forest towards to what the wolves considered their territory. You asked how many they are and she would give a little shrug. "Im not sure. Somewhere between 7 to 10. It wasnt entirely clear. Either way its normal pack sized. Not a huge one." She would turn her head a little to give you a smile before she would focus on what she was doing.

*whether or not he understands your rationale for it, Geoff shows no hurry or impatience at the pace you're setting...this is more than just idle curiosity on his part, but it's not a critical life-or-death situation, which is rather uncommon for him these days, or so it would seem.....he nods sagely as you say how large the pack is, and if you think that means he has a keen understanding on natural wolf pack structure and ranging pattern, he'll let you believe that....in truth, he's far from an expert....he has enough to focus on knowing about the Lukoi, he's never really seen much point in learning about our counterparts (though he does suspect that there is a great deal of overlap between the two)* Can you understand all of them, or only a few? *he has no doubt that this ability is yours, but that doesn't mean that there isn't some dependency on the wolves themselves as well...like only the alphas in the pack are capable of communicating with you*

She was glad that you werent hurrying her along. She didnt know exactly where the wolves were. This wasnt like having an exact address. She would just know the general area. She noted the nod at her saying how large the pack was. She didnt assume you did or didnt have knowledge about normal wolves. She wasnt sure that she had too much more knowledge than you did. Its not like she talked about pack hierarchies with the wolves she had talked to so far. When you asked if she could understand all of them or just some of them she would shrug a little. "All of them so far. But Ive only seen a few of them. I havent met the whole pack. I think they all know about me  now though. They dont seem surprised when I start talking to them." It would stand to reason that they would communicate with each other about the lycan that could talk to them.

Hm. *that's the extent of his response to your words....in addition to being monosyllabic, it's also really short, giving you almost nothing to go on to figure out whether he finds that as good news or bad news, or even if that's what he expected you to say....normally whenever he plays things cagey like this, he has some internal milepost that determines his true feelings on whatever-it-is, and he's trying to find out where you stand in relation to that by how you interpret his non-responses....this time, however, Geoff truthfully doesn't really know what he would have expected, or which answer he would prefer....that's all he says for a few yards more before something new pops into his head* So tell me, what exactly does a pack of wolves talk about? *for some people, that question might have popped up much sooner than this....the fact that it didn't for Geoff probably tells you something....from his tone, however, you'd be able to tell that he's not just passing the time; he seems legitimately interested*
